About Score 4 ScholarshipsTM Basketball Tournament
The Score 4 ScholarshipsTM Basketball Tournament (S4S) has been held every year since 2007 at the University of Pennsylvania's famous PALESTRA gymnasium. The goal is twofold - have lots of fun in a spirited basketball competition, and raise as much money as possible in support of the Philadelphia Scholars Program.
The S4S tournament is an "NCAA Style" bracket competition and features three competitive divisions with up to eight basketball teams in each division. Trophies are awarded to winners in each division, and all participants receive amazing T-shirts, pizza, snacks, and beverages.
The next S4S tournament is scheduled for Sunday, April 10, 2011.
What is the Philadelphia Scholars Program?
It's a fantastic resource for so many Philadelphia students. The program awards "Last Dollar Scholarships" to graduates of public neighborhood high schools across the City of Philadelphia. Since the program's inception in 1990, more than 1,900 students have received scholarships, totaling nearly $9 million. Many of these students are the first members of their families to attend college.
